In this Sparkle Vlog: I wanted to begin talking about more serious things, especially as they relate to queer issues. So in this one, I talk about being a teenage lesbian, when I first knew I was a lesbian (hint, IT HAPPENED AT SIX AND INVOLVED MY LITTLE PONIES), and how no matter WHEN you know who you are and who you love, it’s a valid experience.

Hey, commenting to say that I’m loving your vlogs!
You make an interesting point about lesbianism being so sexualized in our culture. I haven’t thought about that in a really long time, actually, but I’m remembering how it wasn’t until I saw Rent as a teenager that I realized two women could actually be in love with each other. And that’s exactly why queer representation in books and other media matters. If I had had access to queer female characters earlier, maybe I wouldn’t have had to go through “the struggle.”
